आप सभी को बधाई कि आप लोगों ने जो एक प्रयास शुरू किया है वो अपने आप में ऐतहासिक है! देश के प्रधानमंत्री ने जब यह तय किया कि कौशल विकास का काम हो और अभी तक कौशल विकास का काम मूलतः पढ़े लिखे लोगों के लिए ज्यादा समझा जाता है. लेकिन इस प्रक्रिया में जब श्रॉफ साहब मुझसे मिलने दिल्ली में आये. मुझे यह महसूस हुआ जो कम पढ़े लिखे लोग हैं उनके लिए भी कौशल विकास की गुंजाइश है. जो सुबह से शाम तक मजदूरी करते हैं, अपना पेट पालते हैं, हजारों किलोमीटर दूर अपने घर से बाहर आकर रोजगार लेते हैं. जिनका जीवन बहुत ही अस्त-व्यस्त होता है, उनके लिए भी ऐसी व्यवस्था है. मुझे लगता है कि भारत के इतिहास में कुशल का यह प्रयास जो पिछले तीन वर्षों में किया है वो अपने आप में इतिहास के पन्नों में हमेशा याद किया जायेगा!

Kushal training has been hugely successful and very motivating for the labourers. Their improved skills get them a higher rate of earning and the sense of pride they are imbued with can be seen in the quality of their workmanship. In fact, even when their contractors were not working with us, the workers chose to remain. We live in a digital age, so it is only sensible to leverage the convenience offered by digital devices, like tablets. Kushal has begun offering certain trainings through tutorials on tablets. This releases worker and employer from the constraints of venue and travel, making the entire experience very user-friendly The tangible benefits of Kushal’s training modules are clear and visible but the intangibles are just as beneficial. This effort now needs business owners to push senior leadership within companies to adopt it. The ideal practical way forward would be to define a fixed number of training hours each worker can receive. We are confident that once implemented the results will speak for themselves I feel extremely proud of the effort that the Kushal team has put in and the discipline with which they work. I congratulate the whole team on this wonderful initiative and their perseverance in driving it to this commendable degree of successes. Initiated by CREDAI Pune Metro in April this year, KUSHALTM training programme has helped in changing the face of training and skill building scenario of the construction workers not only in Pune but across the entire construction industry in India. Our project, KUL Ecoloch, has benefited immensely from the training offered to construction workers. Not only was the project completed at a faster rate, but also workers’ safety was not compromised upon at any point in time during construction stages. Also, the German tools provided to the labours helped increase their efficiency and quality of work. It is of great importance for developers to offer Kushal training or a similar training programme to construction workers. This will not only help the workers to enhance their skills, but also assist them in gaining confidence, learning on-the-job and ultimately earning a hike in wages. In the long run, it will lead to much-improved standard of construction, with experts working on construction sites. It will also keep construction sites free from any kind of mishaps. Besides once trained the labour productivity and output increases they use better and latest tools to deliver quality.

Kushal is doing training and upgrading the skills of constructions workers in un-organized construction sector to become an organized industry, which is not done earlier by any agency. The trainers from kushal having practical knowledge and more experience can easily understand the site requirement and accordingly the trainings are provided to workers. The training given to workers actual at site enhances skills and practical knowledge of workers. Due to this training, workers can now solve day to day problem related to works without help of their seniors. The confidence level and day’s output of workers has increased considerably.
The quality and speed of work improved. The rework at site is minimized of trained workers. Impact of material wastages are under control.We have recommended through our contractors for implementation of Kushal Training at our other sites as well. This programme initially started and implemented at our “Blue Ridge Township” at Hinjewadi . Till date 418 workers have got certification from kushal and we have a plan to conduct this programme at our all projects. Our contractors Unity Infraprojects Ltd & Man infra Constructions Ltd also implemented this training.
Presently considerable changes are noticed in methodology of Shuttering, bar bending and Painting workers who have undergone training. Material wastages are reduced and are monitored by trained workers and guidance is given to their colleagues. Periodical visits and keeping in touch with workers by kushal trainers. More trades are to be incorporated in training list. Since the construction workers are migrated from other states and also changing their locations frequently and leaving their training by keeping their track we have to complete their training.

It is a great initiative taken up by CREDAI, to excel in this industry, workers with enhanced skill sets are imperative to us. The impacts have been noticeable. These include enhanced quality of work and better speed, Reduction in the wastage of building materials, and improved awareness about safety measures.
Over 700 of our workers have successfully undergone training and achieved higher skill levels. A large portion of them who were unskilled workers prior to the training have now acquired certificates with Semi-skilled and Skilled grades.Though we have not quantified the changes yet, but, we have been taking feedbacks about Kushal from all the trained workers, their contractors, as well as our engineers, managers stationed on sites. And the impacts have been substantial in terms of apt use of materials and tools and minimization of material wastage to a great extent.The soft skills imparted to the trainees have brought about a number of behavioural changes among workers such as their commitment to meet timelines, punctuality and their determination to bring about the best quality of work.
Marvel Group is involved quite actively in the Training of all different trades (BarBending, Masonry, Painting, Plumbing, Shuttering, and Tiling) and training is going on at 9 of our sites. The only suggestion from marvel group would be to develop a monitoring / tracking mechanism to ensure that the workers who have availed the training at a site are retained there for a longer time.
